Links From February And March

On February 25th, we joined the world of Facebook.  Since then, many fans have liked our page (we have 83 fan now!).  But even better than that, many of our fans have been sharing stories and pictures of yarn bombing that they have read about or seen (and even one story about knitting sweaters for penguins).

We've decided that since some people might not have Facebook, we wouldn't want you to not be able to see these stories and pictures.  So every so often, we're going to share all the links in a blog post so people can see them that way.  Now... some are just able to be viewed on Facebook.. but many are links to outside sites.  We'll share them all though.

1. A New York City subway got yarn bombed for Valentine's Day

2. Esther Poon is a yarn bomber from Sheung Wan, Hong Kong

3. Penguins involved in oil spills need sweaters

4. But the sweaters were actually being used for fund raising purposes, not to put on real penguins

5. There was a giant hat in New York City

6. Wanna be a Knitting Kninja?  This site shows you how to do your first tag!

7. Look at this cross stitch bunny!

8. Here was a picture a fan shared with us that she had come across in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York City:

I wonder if the artist was intending this as a statement to Mother Nature in reference to this long, long winter!

9. I discovered this artist in a Chickadee magazine (March 2013), check out Agata Oleksiak's website, and specifically the playground she turned into an alligator (this is what was talked about in the magazine)

10. This we're just sneaking in.... if you are local, come and check out the Fibre Festival at the Peterborough Public Library this Saturday... it's sure to be fun!

11. An extremely cool staircase!

12. A beautiful yarn-bombed tree appears at about the 0:10 mark in this video.

We've Passed 1,000 Views!!!!!!!!!!

I know, I know, it sounds like we're lying, but we're not.

We've actually passed 1,000 views (or as some of you call it, hits).

Now, since we passed 1,000 views, we had to celebrate.  You know what we did to celebrate?  KNIT!!

Of course... Knitting Kninjas celebrate success with knitting!

So... here some of the Knitting Kninjas knitting at our knitting party:

KninjaNeedles8 working on a piece for our big upcoming group tag

Knitting Mermaid is working on a piece for that same tag

Knitting Wonder Woman is being helped by KnitMama to knit her very first piece ever which will be displayed at our group tag too

KnitMama is knitting this shared tag that her and KninjaNeedles8 are working on (it will hopefully be done in the next week!)

So... talking about that tag that is being done by both KninjaNeedles8 and KnitMama... here is how it's measuring out:

It measures 10 cms (about 4 inches), not stretched

But stretched (which it will be in it's final location) it's about 14 cms (almost 6 inches)

Hopefully, by tomorrow, we'll be working our next colour.... what do you think?

Yellow!!!!

And... our last piece of news... just yesterday we started our new Facebook page... and in just about 24 hours we already have over 50 fans!!!  So great!  To like our Facebook page, just follow the link in our sidebar (or here it is for a super shortcut - https://www.facebook.com/knittingkninjas).
