We've Been Caught!

So... in preparations for Wednesday night's meet-up (at the Olde Stone from 5:30 - 7:00... come on out if you want to be a Knitting Kninja), KninjaNeedles8 and KnitMama went to the location of our upcoming big group tag (and no... we will not reveal this location to anyone!).

To prepare, some measurements and photographs were taken.  There were trees, big and small... benches.. multiple benches and there were streetlights galore (think of how lovely all our different tags will look shining under the streetlights!).

KnitMama was measuring a pole with a light at the top of it which would have been a great location for tag.  KninjaNeedles8 was taking a picture of a tree.  There had been big trees and little trees... but this one was mid-sized.. it seemed like a perfect sized tree to tag.  All was going well and we just had to finish those two locations.  We had to get the measurements!

A handy dandy tape measure can be a yarn bombers best tool to carry around when you're planning for tags!

Suddenly... coming up the path that went right past where we were, there was a gentleman.  He was walking in our direction.  What could we do????  What would you have done?

We tried to play it cool... we just continued on with what we were doing as if it was a perfectly normal thing to be out in the dead of winter (-15 C... feels like -24 C.... and for you Americans that would be 5 F..feels like -11 F) measuring poles and trees.

The man was dressed in a long tan winter coat and his face was bundled up in a balaclava (he could have been a Knitting Kninja himself he was so well disguised!).  Unfortunately... KnitMama and KninjaNeedles8 were not in disguise... we were just measuring things all willy nilly!

When he got to where we were, he didn't slow down (it was too cold to stop and chat fortunately) but he clearly asked us "Are you going to knit something for that pole?".

We froze... we didn't know how to respond.  How could he have guess our mission right from the start????   Is it possible he's already heard of the Knitting Kninjas???

KnitMama managed to pull it together quickly though... she responded with a 'I don't know' (not really that clever) and he continued walking (although it's been a very long winter, this is one time that the very cold weather worked in our favour since no one in their right mind would stop to chit chat in today's cold!!).

Whew... we made it out of that one!

So... if you are that nice gentleman who was walking by us today and you recognise yourself from our story.. please, please, please... do no reveal our location... but keep your eyes posted as that location will soon be bombed... in lots of colourful yarn!!

This was such a close call though that it left KninjaNeedles8 in a state of embarrassment!

Oh... the embarrassment!

  2. Phew! Glad you made it out of there with your secret identities pretty much in tact. Can't wait to see the new project. Any chance you'd accept contributions by mail?

    1. Do you have a piece that is just waiting for a new home to be placed? You can be a Knitting Kninja too then. First... give yourself a Knitting Kninja name.... Where do you live? If you are local, come on out this Wednesday to our meeting, if you are not, we can mail you a label (or you could make your own), put up your piece, take some pictures of it and send them our way... or you could even do a guest post blog if you'd like to share your adventure with everyone.
